Hello Everyone,
Your body is a masterpiece of exquisite design. Beautifully "engineered," it is governed by several hundred systems of control -- each interacting with and affecting the other. His brain has 10 billion nerve cells to record what he sees and hears. His skin has more than 2 million tiny sweat glands -- about 3000 per square inch -- all part of the intricate system which keeps his body at an even temperature. A "pump" in his chest makes his blood travel 168 million miles a day -- equivalent of 6720 times around the world! The lining of his stomach contains 35 million glands secreting juices which aid the process of digestion. And these are but a few of the involved processes and chemical wonders which operate to sustain his life. And just think, the first time God put it together, it worked! God does all things well. Praise God your it works.
"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." Psalms 139:14

God's Purpose
Hello Everyone,
I read where a man lost his home and mill when a flood washed them away. The article was sharing all about his lost and how broken-hearted and discouraged as he stood surveying his loss. However, among the ruins is when he saw a glittering object that had been uncovered by the waters. It was gold! The disaster he thought had made him a beggar had actually made him wealthy. So, too, the Lord often works through our troubles to strip away certain cherished possessions to show us the better treasures of His love and power. How thankful we should be that in every storm of affliction we have the assurance that the Lord has a good purpose in mind.
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

Afflictions
Hello Everyone,
I have as most of you always thought of hurricanes as something we could do without. But recently I learned that they are necessary to maintain a balance in nature. These tropical storms, with winds up to 150 miles an hour and accompanied by torrential rains, lightning, and rumbling thunder, can be devastating. Yet scientists tell us now that they are tremendously valuable. They dissipate a large percentage of the oppressive heat which builds up at the equator, and they are indirectly responsible for much of the rainfall in North and South America. Meteorologists are now convinced that hurricanes actually do more good than harm. Hey, that is the same with God's Word. The Bible teaches us that the afflictions of God's people are like that. Though they bring temporary pain and grief, they can produce eternal dividends.
"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;" 2 Corinthians 4:17

Which Jesus Did
Hello Everyone,
In all, only about 50 days of Jesus' ministry are touched upon in all the combined gospels. Jesus' minimum term of ministry equaled three years, or 1080 days (360 days per year). That means 0.046 percent, or slightly less than half of one percent of the days that Jesus was actively ministering are actually recorded in the gospels. Imagine all of the teaching, the conversations, and the ministry that we never heard about. No wonder John wrote, "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen." John 21:25
"And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name." John 20:30-31

Solid Foundation
Hello Everyone,
When the workmen began to renovate Theatre London in London, Ontario, they were determined to save the theatre's greatest glory -- its splendid arch with its hand-painted murals of frolicking nymphs. During the project's early stages they discovered that one side of the arch was supported by nothing more than a broken brick standing on loose sand. A steel support was hurriedly erected before the arch collapsed! So it is with many a life, (if examined) would be found to have just as flimsy foundations. The Lord Jesus taught concerning the danger of building life on the sand. When the storm of judgment blows, such a life will not stand the test.
"Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it." In My Father's Name
Hello Everyone,
One of the kings of Poland, carried about him the picture of his father; and when he was to do any great work, or set upon any design extraordinary, he would look on the picture, and pray that he might do nothing unworthy of such a father's name. Thus it is that the Scriptures are the picture of God's will. Before a man engages in any business whatsoever, let him look there, and read what is to be done, what to be omitted.
"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7

BE PERSISTENT
Hello Everyone,
Perhaps you recall the story of a man who distributed tracts for many years on a street corner. Finally, seeing no visible results, he gave up. When he returned to the same spot two years later, he saw another individual handing out Gospel leaflets as he had done. Striking up a conversation, he discovered that the man had become a Christian through a salvation tract given him on that corner about two years before. The convert added, "Many times I've come back here to find that earnest worker and thank him, but he never returned. I decided he must have died, and so I've taken his place!" The first man suddenly realized that his work had not been in vain. Much encouraged he went back to giving out tracts the very next day.
It takes many blows to crack a hard boulder; and if one stops too soon, all his previous efforts go to waste, for the work of the sledge is cumulative. It is the constant pounding on the same spot that weakens the stone. This is also true of the flinty hearts of men. The Word of God, "Like a hammer," may have to be applied often before it breaks "the rock in pieces" So don't stop witnessing to that needy soul -- BE PERSISTENT! The next word of Scripture he hears may be the final stroke that will open his heart to the Gospel!
"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."
Galatians 6:9

The Bible
Hello Everyone,
When a Soviet official was asked why a study of the Bible was frowned upon in his country, and why those who dared to print and distribute it were severely punished, he replied, "We find that the reading of the Book changes people in a way that is dangerous to our state!" During World War II when the Nazis occupied a new territory, they immediately placed all Christians in concentration camps if they made public commitments to the Word of God. They had found that those who clung to the Bible would not compromise their faith or yield to the evil edicts of a godless dictator. Still those who oppose civil and spiritual liberty continue to consider the Word of God "dangerous." To the believer, however, it remains his beloved "Handbook to Heaven"! Someone told me that BIBLE means Basic Information Before Leaving Earth."
"So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." Isaiah 55:11

Side by Side
Hello Everyone,
On the table side by side;
A Holy Bible and the TV Guide,
One is well worn but cherished with pride,
(Not the Bible, but the TV Guide).
One is used daily to help folks decide,
No! It isn't the Bible; it's the TV Guide.
As pages are turned, what shall they see?
Oh, what does matter, turn on the TV.
So they open the book in which they confide
(No, not the Bible, it's the TV Guide).
The Word of God is seldom read,
Maybe a verse ere they fall into bed.
Exhausted and sleepy and tired as can be,
Not from reading the Bible, but watching TV.
So, then back to the table, side by side,
Is the Holy Bible and the TV Guide.
No time for prayer, no time for the Word;
The plan for salvation is seldom heard.
Forgiveness of sin so full and free
Is found in the Bible, not on TV!!
"I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:"
Deuteronomy 30:19

Christian Nation
Hello Everyone,
Our new president says that we are not a Christian nation. Many got upset nothing came of it. But when I did a little study I found out that his statement was real close to the truth. Much more than I would have hoped or expected.
A few years ago, a test of Bible knowledge was given to five classes of high school seniors. Most of them failed the exam completely! Some were so confused that they thought Sodom and Gomorrah were lovers, or that the gospels were written by Matthew, Mark, Luther, and John. Others said that Eve was created from an apple, and that the stories Jesus used in teaching were called parodies. More than 80 percent of the pupils could not complete such familiar quotations as "Many are called but few are (chosen)"; or "a soft answer turneth away (wrath)." How deplorable that such ignorance of the Bible is so widespread in a nation where the Judeo-Christian ethic has shaped the destiny of our land for more than 200 years.
"Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame." 1 Corinthians 15:34
"Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God." Matthew 22:29

Frozen Pond
Hello Everyone,
Kids will be kids and they should be. I watched as a little fellow was throwing sticks out onto the frozen pond to see if he could break the ice. After several throws he gave up. But the frozen pond looked dirty with all those sticks laying around. I smile as I thought, but one day this pond will thaw and those sticks will be gone.
That reminded me of some folks hearts. Many are cold and hard. Like a log tossed on a frozen lake, God's word may appear to be rejected and ignored, but when the cold, hard heart thaws, the "log" of truth sinks in and becomes a part of that life.
"I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah" Psalms 32:5

What a Friend in Jesus
Hello Everyone,
"What a friend we have in Jesus." Is a song that the little ones sing. But this time it caught my ears in a way that it had not before. I thank God for my friend Jesus. And He reveals Himself to me everyday in the Bible. What would I do without my Bible? It was the guide for my days, and it is the staff of my old age. Yes, it has wounded me, and it has healed me. For sure it has condemned me, and it has acquitted me. I still remember well the day that it showed me that I was a sinner, and it led me to the Saviour. It has given me comfort through life, and I trust it will be with me until death. Thank God for my BIBLE.

UP
Hello Everyone,
This was sent to me and I just could not pass UP to pass it along. I certainly hope and pray that you are UP to this little bit of confusion. There is a two-letter word that perhaps has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that is "UP."
It's easy to understand UP , meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP? At a meeting, why does a topic come UP? Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report?
We call UP our friends. And we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver; warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house and some guys fix UP the old car. At other times the little word has real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses. To be dressed is one thing but to be dressed UP is special.
And this UP is confusing: A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP. We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.
Keep looking UP, for Jesus is coming soon.

Looking for Jesus
Hello Everyone,
A Sunday school teacher was sharing that he once saw a reproduction the Constitution of the United States which had been skillfully engraved on a copper plate. At first glance it seemed to be nothing more than a piece of noble writing. When he looked at if from another perspective, however, he could discern the portrait of President George Washington artistically etched in minute detail. The teacher added, "His face was revealed in the shadowing of the letters and I saw his person, not just a flow of words or lofty principles. Then I thought: that's the way we should look at the Bible if we are to understand its deeper meaning. We must see in it a 'Face of love shining through,' not merely ideas, not just doctrines, but Jesus himself -- sufficient for all our needs."
The scriptures become exciting and thrilling to read when you have the right spiritual perspective and therefore can observe the One whose spirit constantly energizes its pages with life and beauty! Can you recognize Jesus when you study the Bible?

Your Bible
Hello Everyone,
I would like a job as tutor, teacher and advisor to your family. I will never take a vacation. I will never be out of humor. I don't drink or smoke. I won't borrow your clothes or raid your refrigerator. I will be up in the morning as early as anyone in the household and will stay up as late as anyone wishes. I will help solve any problems your children might have. I will give you the satisfaction of knowing that no question your children ask will go unanswered. For that matter, I will answer any of your own questions on subjects that range from "How we got here?" to "Where are we headed?" I will help settle bets and differences of opinion. I will give you information that will help you with your job, your family and all of your other interests. In short, I will give you the knowledge that will insure the continued success of your family. I am your Bible. Do I get the job?
"Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up." Deuteronomy 11:18-19

Let God's Word do it.
Hello Everyone,
The Word of God.
If you are cold, let it WARM you,
If you are asleep, let it WAKE you,
If you are a backslider, let it WARN you,
If you are defiled, let it WASH you.
If you are disobedient, let it WHIP you.
If you are uncertain, let it WITNESS to you.
If you are unsaved, let it WIN you.
"For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope." Romans 15:4

Study the Bible
Hello Everyone,
I believe that reading the Bible is vital for every Christian. How can we learn about God or grow spiritually if we do not spend time studying the Book in which He has made Himself known to us? Taking a few minutes each day to read a chapter is a good way to start. But we should also block out extended periods of time for exploring God's Word and reflecting on what He is saying to us.
I am reminded of what an old park ranger said once when asked "I've only got an hour to spend at Yosemite," she declared. "What should I do? Where should I go?"
The old ranger finally found voice to reply. "Ah, lady, only an hour." He repeated it slowly. "I suppose that if I had only an hour to spend at Yosemite, I'd just walk over there by the river and sit down and cry." A whole lifetime is not long enough to appreciate fully the beauty and learning and value of the Bible. That's why we must take time to study its truths and make them real in our lives.
"Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart."
Psalms 119:2
