God captures the Heart

Hello Everyone,

This dear friend of mine wrote, If any of you know me at all you would know that I love the sky: sunsets, sunrises, stars, clouds, etc. I mean I LOVE it. It literally sets my soul a-flight and I find myself paralyzed in the moment, which is an amazing place to be. It is a time where you cant think of anything else, but the beauty that lays before you. I watch the clouds swirl around the sky like a beautiful symphony of color, and I get lost in the fluidity of their motion. Tonight it I realized that this is God's way of capturing my heart (of which He wins every time). His way of pursuing me and enrapturing me in his grace and love. So I ask: In what ways does God capture your heart?

"When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?" Psalms 8:3,4

A Honest Prayer

Hello Everyone,

A man sat down to supper with his family, saying grace, thanking God for the food, for the hands which prepared it, and for the source of all life. But during the meal he complained about the freshness of the bread, the bitterness of the coffee and the sharpness of the cheese. His young daughter questioned him, "Dad, do you think God heard the grace today?" He answered confidently, "Of course." Then she asked, "And do you think God heard what you said about the coffee, the cheese, and the bread?" Not so confidently, he answered, "Why, yes, I believe so." The little girl concluded, "Then which do you think God believed, Dad?" The man was suddenly aware that his mealtime prayer had become a rote, thoughtless habit rather than an attentive and honest conversation with God.

"And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart," Acts 2:46

So Honest

Hello Everyone,

A dear friend of mine sent this to me and I thought it needs to viewed by everyone, enjoy.

I was in Target today, standing in the check out line, when a woman rushed behind me with a single item in her hand. She proceeded to tell the cashier that she had left something in her cart and forgot to pay for it. The cashier smiled, scanned the item, the lady paid for the item and all in well in the world of retail stores. Her noble deed did not go unrecognized (as I am now telling her tale), despite the lack of gratitude shown by the cashier, store manager or the entire Target Corporation for returning fabric softener that had been amiss. Moral of the Story: I thought to myself, now that is a woman of integrity. She did not have to come back in and pay for it. It would have been just as easy to drive home and thank God for a free bottle fabric softener; after all "the Lord works in mysterious ways," right? The cashier did not praise her for being so honest and she might not have even cared, but I noticed. My point is, there will be things you do and you might not get a standing ovation, a pat on the back or proper recognition, but someone is always watching. It is the little things in life that make the biggest difference.

"Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation." 1 Peter 2:12

A New Page

Hello Everyone,

Do you realize that each day that God is giving you is a new and unspoiled page to be written? Each new day brings a new chance and a new opportunity to practice what you have learned about life the last year. Each day is to be carefully sough out and to have more determination for what is ahead. All the good that you have tried and may not have succeeded has gotten another day to start again. Only this time with fewer conflicts. Your dreams that you thought were no longer available have gotten a new day to seek. All that you hoped for but missed out, all the faith that you claimed but did not have are waiting to be awakened by the touch of a strong purpose. Today is your opportunity to renew you allegiance to God who said, "Behold, I make all things new."

"Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit."

They did it

Hello Everyone,

Have you ever wondered who "They" are? Everyone talks of them as though they are real known folks. I have found and I like to call Matthew chapter 27 the "THEY" Chapter. Read it for yourself. You will find the word "they repeated over and over again. There they stripped him. They plated crown of thorns. They spit upon him. They mocked him. They took the robe off him. They gave him vinegar to drink. Would you please allow me to share with you who "They" are. They are you and me. It was our sins that Jesus came and died for. Yes "They" are you and me.

"And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified." Matthew 27:22

Ashamed

Hello Everyone,

I watched a show that had this fellow out in the streets asking questions to passerby. One of his question was concerning the Bible. Some as confused as that little boy who the epistles were the wives of the apostles. One person thought that Sodom and Gomorrah were husband and wife. When people are questioned about the Bible on radio or television, it is remarkable and discouraging to see the complete lack of knowledge on God's Holy Word.

A Gallup poll conducted some years ago revealed that 60 percent of Americans did not know what "the Holy Trinity" was. Sixty-six percent couldn't say who delivered the Sermon on the Mount, and 79 percent were unable to name a single Old Testament prophet.

Hunt and Poke

Hello Everyone,

The story was told of the man who was in a difficult situation, and in desperation turns to the Bible. He didn't know where to look, so he let the book flop open and he laid his finger on a verse, which said that Judas "went and hanged himself." After a moment's thought, he decided to turn to a different verse for help; he repeated the process and read, "What thou doest, do quickly." What I have found is that too many folks are "hunt and poke" Bible students, and it's no wonder we have so little understanding of God's Word for us. The Bible requires and deserves our serious attention and study.

Suffering

Hello Everyone,

I have found that serving Christ will bring suffering, and there will be conflict with the enemies of Christ. Wars and battles will have to be fought. The Christian life is not for sissies, it is hard work, sometimes suffering and persecution and much sacrifice is required. But let us remember He suffered and died for us and many Christians before us were willing to suffer and die for Him Let us be PREPARE as a good soldier, WATCH as a good soldier, and ENDURE as a good soldier

Being saved is not always fun. Being in a war is not fun. Our soldiers in Iraq had to abandon everything to answer the call of their country in time of war. As a soldier of the Lord Jesus Christ you must abandon everything to follow Him. one day we will hear Him say, "Well done thou good and faithful servant".

The Miracle Book

Hello Everyone,

The Bible is referred to in many different ways. We speak of it as God's Word, the Good Book, the Holy Scriptures, and the Sword of the Spirit. It is also known as the Book of books and the Living Word. Some call it simply THE Book, for nothing else seems necessary. It stands alone, towering above all other writings. Of the many titles given to the Bible, however, the one that is the most appropriate is God's Miracle Book.

This is true for a number of reasons:
1. It is miraculous in its origin -- coming to us by divine inspiration.
2. It is miraculous in its durability -- outlasting the opposition of its critics and surviving the attempts of its enemies to exterminate it.
3. It is miraculous in its results -- transforming the lives of those who read and believe it.
4. It is miraculous in its harmony -- agreeing in all its parts, even though written over a period of 1600 years by about 40 different authors.
5. It is miraculous in its message -- telling of many occasions when God supernaturally intervened in the affairs of men to accomplish his redemptive purposes.
6. It is miraculous in its preservation -- maintaining its accuracy and reliability down through the centuries.

Yes, the Bible is God's Miracle Book!

"For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." 2 Peter 1:21

Monday Test

Hello Everyone,

Here’s a Monday morning test. How much time do you spend reading the Bible? Do you think God really believes we can know His will when we don’t take even 15 minutes a day to read the one book above all books that God has specifically written to show you His will, to reveal His will to you, to unfold His will to you? When you bow to His will and read His will, you’ll know His will.

Commit to read God's Word at least 15 minutes a day for 30 days. When the month is over, reevaluate what you have learned and ask God to help you be obedient to daily Bible reading from this day forward. I promise you will be glad you did.

God is Enough

Hello Everyone,

Do you really honestly know that God is enough and that He is, in fact, more than enough? To find out if God is enough for you, let me ask you a couple of questions. Where do you obtain your joy? Is it from the Lord or from somewhere else? If your joy is from your health and it goes, then your joy will fly out the window. How many Christians have lost their health, their business, their family, their reputation, but has still maintained their joy because the source of genuine contentment and peace is in God. Indeed, one may not know that God is enough until God is all one has.

Let me suggest that you time to visit a hospital waiting room and shared Christ with those who are hurting? There is where you will find folks who need to know that God is enough.

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:"

Blessed

Hello Everyone,

The Lord Jesus Christ gives us beatitudes which is what our attitudes ought to be. They are attitudes that deal with Christian character. Your reputation is what others think about you, but character is what God knows about you. The beatitudes do not say, “Blessed are what you have,” or “Blessed are what you do,” but “Blessed are what you are.” Most of the people in the world are doing what? Folks are seeking happiness. True happiness comes when you get right with God, then blessedness will find you. Have you been finding your self-worth in what you have or what you do? Confess it before the Lord and meditate on the attitudes you ought to be,

Children

Hello Everyone,

Last week was teacher's appreciation week. I was giving a special privilege to help out at school. So that the teachers could have a cup of coffee, or something like coffee, with the pastor. When I arrived I saw the look on the principals face and knew that I was in trouble. She then asked to take the kindergarten class. I knew I was going to get beat up by a bunch of kindergarten kids. Well, I tell you I had a great time and felt as though I was in control. What I wanted to share with you is that as I watched over these little ones, it made me think that one day they will be all grow up. Life is short. Then I noticed that each one was a different person. All the same age but different. Only God is able to keep up with all the different children in the world. Thank God.

Note This

Hello Everyone,

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy always followed by a dictatorship. Hmmm.....

Now note this these nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependence; from dependence back again into bondage.

"The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:" 2 Peter 2:9

Praying

Hello Everyone,

Here is one to think about in these days we are living. On a gloomy day in 1857 a man in New York City, scanned the morning newspaper as he rode to his office. He was distressed to read that the depression gripping the nation was causing fear and panic among the people. Factories were stopping production and thousands were unemployed. Although this fellow was not a big industrialist, but only a clerk, he had one important distinction. He was a man who had great faith in God!

Concerned with the grim economic situation, he sent a note to all his business acquaintances, telling them that each day at noon a prayer meeting would be held in his office. With high hopes he arranged 20 chairs in a circle, but the first day no one came. All alone he prayed fervently that God would bring about a great change in him and in America. The second day he was encouraged, for a few friends joined him. A short time later a similar gathering was started on Wall Street, another on Williams Street, and finally a fourth on Broadway. Then like wildfire the movement spread to all parts of the country. The moral tone of the nation was affected, and there was a great upsurge in the spiritual life of the people. Some historians say that this effort of united prayer and faith was an integral part of the improvement in the economy which soon followed.

"O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!" Deuteronomy 5:29

A Good Name

Hello Everyone,

I have nick names for all my sons, because I have gotten so old that I forget. This week I have thinking a lot about all the names that are out there. What got me to thinking was the different names of schools. The Moore Mustangs, The Bulter Bears, The U of K Wildcats. The Western Hilltoppers. (uh)

The most common nicknames of college teams come from the animal world. Eagles and tigers lead the way, followed by cougars, bulldogs, bears, and multitudes of other ferocious creatures. To these school and their students it is important. I wonder; if God gave us a "nicknames" based on the characteristics of our spiritual lives, I wonder what would you be called?

Guard your name

Hello Everyone,

When my sons were growing up I took time to share with each of them after they were saved that you are now carrying two names. My last name that I have given you at birth and now you are carrying Jesus's name that He has given you after your new birth. Guard your name with all your heart.

You got it from your Father, it was all he had to give. So it's yours to use and cherish, for as long as you may live. If you lose the watch he gave you, it can always be replaced. But a black mark on your name, son, can never be erased. It was clean the day you took it, and a worthy name to bear, when he got it from his father, there was no dishonor there. So make sure you guard it wisely, after all is said and done. You'll be glad the name is spotless when you by God's grace get to pass it along to your children.

"My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man." Thou Shalt not kill

Hello Everyone,

In the United States, things may cost more but life is cheap. United States of America is becoming soaked in blood, because she has rejected God's simple command, "Thou shalt not kill." The average U.S. citizen has a one in 153 chance of being murdered. Intentional killings, murders and suicides rank fourth among causes of U.S. deaths, after heart disease, cancer and accidents. Three quarters of murder victims have been men. Three quarters were 15 to 44 years old. Murder rates for women are significantly lower in all states, with Nevada having the highest risk and Minnesota the lowest. Intentional killings has taken thousands of life from folks who never thought that life was going to be short for them. And the U.S. murder rate continued to rise each year. All because we think we know more than God.

Problems?

Hello Everyone,

Do you have any problems today? You do? Well, I just have one word for you: “Congratulations!” I don’t want to sound flippant, but I am very serious about my comment. You see, a problem really is an opportunity in disguise. You need to learn that God wants you to see your problems as potentialities and your adversaries as opportunities. A Christian is not someone who sees a difficulty in every opportunity, but to the contrary, he’s one who sees an opportunity in every difficulty. Think of a problem you are struggling through today. Now, get on your knees. Ask God to show you the opportunity hidden away in your struggle that will bring Him glory.

"For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock." Psalms 27:5

Getting Even

Hello Everyone,

One of the hardest thing anyone can do is to keep from getting even or getting revenge with another. There is this drive inside us that wants to square things up. Which includes lying. Some folks will tell more lies, just to keep from the telling the truth. It is natural for us to have the desire to seek revenge when someone has treated us wrongly. The Christian has the power of the indwelling Christ to react differently and to show forth the love of Christ even to the one who has done the wrong. Although hard to do at times. The more that we render good for evil the better Lighthouse and Ambassador for the Lord we are and the better testimony we have become for His glory. The next time we feel that we have been wronged, let's not try to get even; let's do the opposite and try to be a blessing to the one who has wronged us.

"See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men." 1 Thessalonians
