Going Forward

Hello Everyone,

As pastor, I am forever trying to help folks get to where they need to be. It is a full time job. Once the Lord shows me the need for someone I then start to do what ever it takes to push, pull or drag them to the next level. Many times I feel like the pastor of that paratrooper, who was asked, how many jumps he had made. He responded by saying, "None! I was pushed out 18 times!" For some Christians, that story describes their initiative or lack thereof.

"And it shall be, when ye are come nigh unto the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people, And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them; For the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you." Deuteronomy 20:2-4

Failures

Hello Everyone,

Failure is never pleasant. It certainly isn't enjoyable to lose a job, see a relationship falter, or even fail a spelling test. But the immediate disappointment we feel when we face defeat can be turned into the joy of success if we take the right attitude. Your attitude has much to do with life's failures. Trust God and Have Faith. With God on your side you can never remain a failure.

"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

Preach the Word

Hello Everyone,

More than a hundred years ago D. L. Moody lashed out as a loving critic to certain parts of the church of his time for its misappropriation of energies. The church reminded him, he said, of firemen straightening pictures on the wall of a burning house. In a single sentence he drew a vivid picture of what any of us can become in any generation when we forget the basic activities given to us by the Lord of the church.

"Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine." 2 Timothy 4:2

Pot Holes

Hello Everyone,

I was traveling along life highway when all of the sudden out of no where I hit a pot hole that about jarred my teeth loose. Where did that come from? Someone really needs to mark that spot or get it fixed. Someone could get killed or end up in the hospital.

What a warning for each of us in life. If one reaches a dangerous pot hole or spot in the road, they should put up a sign to mark that spot. By this, not only are we guarding our future movements, but furnished a warning to others who might pass that way. This is the benefit one generation derives from another.

"That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:" Psalms 78:6,7

Dicisions

Hello Everyone,

The story was told about President Ronald Reagan learned the need for decision making early in his life. A kindly aunt had taken him to a cobbler to have a pair of shoes custom-made for him. The shoemaker asked, "Do you want a round toe or a square toe?" Young Ronald hemmed and hawed, so the cobbler said, "Come back in a day or two and tell me what you want." A few days later the cobbler saw young Reagan on the street and asked what he had decided about the shoes. "I haven't made up my mind," Reagan answered. "Very well," said the cobbler. "Your shoes will be ready tomorrow." When Reagan got the shoes, one had a round toe and the other a square toe. President Reagan, "Looking at those shoes every day taught me a lesson. If you don't make your own decisions, somebody else makes them for you."
I want to encourage you decide on Jesus today why there is time. By not deciding will be your decision. No decision will not be the right decision when it comes to Heaven or Hell.

"I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:"

Good Motivation

Hello Everyone,

What motivates you? Was the question of a friend to another who was going through tough times. This one had no motivation at all, he was depressed and defeated without even putting up a good fight. Let me share with you a good motivation is having family and good friends to push us forward. And help us to put our enemies behind us. No better friend than Jesus.

"It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me. He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man. Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name." Psalms 18:47-49

Finders Keepers

Hello Everyone,

When we were little we had a saying, "Finders keepers - Loser weepers." You may have heard of it. We were quick to say this when it came to finding money. Many times if one found a dollar and yelled "Finders keepers - Loser weepers." another would yell "I just lost a dollar", to try to get it away from the finder.
Eternal life is made of two groups. Finders and losers. Those who know and have found Jesus Christ as their Saviour will never be a Loser weeper. Yet it is not God's will that anyone should lose eternally. For God sent His Son to make all of us WINNERS.

Safe Trip

Hello Everyone,

I don't like to drive by a see that someone has had an accident. It messes up your day. However one be thankful that there was no one hurt or killed. Yet we should be thankful everyday we have that there is no accident. We should thank God for the safe trip even to the corner store. God is worthy of all our thanks. Amen

Memory Sticks

Hello Everyone,

The computer is wonderful tool. But can be a problem when it does all the deciding. Mine decided to stop. He had me over a barrel, there was nothing I could do. I found out hitting it and sweet talking it would not bring the results I was wanting. I tried calling in others and their knowledge was of no use either. So off to the repair shop, where it was diagnosed that the memory sticks had gone bad. "Memory sticks" What are sticks doing in my computer and how did they get there? I am so glad that there are no memory sticks between God and me.

Stand By

Hello Everyone,

Abraham was setting at his tent one day and the Lord showed up. Immediately after seeing them he sprang into action to serve them. His reaction serves as a good example for you and me. You never know when the Lord is going to show up. Abraham ministered to their needs with quickness, he sprang up and bow his face to the ground. He then hurried to gather up the best that he had. The thing that I want you to notice today is that after serving the Lord, the Bible says he stood by them. Staying close to the Lord is always good.

"And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth. And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetched a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it. And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat." Genesis 18:6-8

Get the Round Around

Hello Everyone,

I was reading the Bible in Matthew 9 where Jesus had just left Jarius' house and was walking along when He hears the cry of two blind men. He stopped and called for them. The two blind men realized that they had a great need and had heard of this Jesus who could meet their need. They made their request in the right attitude, in the right way, to the right person. There is nothing more aggravating than to get the run around. Thank God when folks come to Jesus they don't get the round around. Amen.

"And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you." Matthew 9:28-29

God Does all things Well

Hello Everyone,

I was moaning the other day about something personal. I guess folks could read it on my face. So a young lady started telling me that everything is going to be okay. She stated that life is never easy and things come and things go. She had such a sweet smile on her face and shared a little about how life has not been fair and somehow she was able to make it. She went on to say that she still does not like all that is going on in her life but she has accepted for now, at least until she can afford the change. I looked at her and smiled and did not have the heart to tell her that I was a pastor. God does all things well. Amen

Fix It

Hello Everyone,

Life is full of hurts. There is death, disappointments, relationships, health, spiritual and of course just everyday stuff. For me the greater hurt is seeing one that I love going through some sort of hurt. I want so much to fix it. When our boys were growing up, they would always bring things to me to be fixed. Now that they are much older, they don't need me to fix it. Yet the hurts are still coming. So I find myself having to turn it all over the my Father, who can fix it. God can do all things. Amen

Safe Guard

Hello Everyone,

I saw on the news where a young 24 year old man was killed by a bear. It was told that the bear was kept in a cage and was a real gentle and a friendly animal. Then, for reasons they don't know, the bear just went off and started mauling this young man. The owner of the bear said that, he wished that they would not have killed the bear. That the young man that was killed by the bear knew the consequences of being around the bear. I was wondering if he was feeling more sorrow for the bear that young man?
No matter how man tries to train wild animals they are still wild animals and they can and will resort back to their old nature. There must be safe guards in place at all times. Same applies to the human nature, "for all have sinned." The Safe guard must be kept in place at all times. For those who are saved - The safe guard is Jesus Christ.

"And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one." John 10:28-30

Hope

Hello Everyone,

I met a little girl and her name was Hope. I told her she had a very pretty name. And she told me that her daddy named her Hope, because he was hoping to have a boy. Then you should have seen that smile on her face. It melted my heart and I told her, I know your daddy would not take a dozen boys for you right now. She just smiled and said, Yea, he loves me the most. There is nothing so powerful as knowing that your father loves you the most.

"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39

Just Do It - Right

Hello Everyone,

I received a lot of feed back on my devotional about "Just Do It." And I am thankful for it. Most of it was positive and worthy to be passed along. So with that in mind, I want to pass this along to you. If you are going to "Just Do It." Then go ahead and "Just do it - Right." Amen. That which needs to be done needs to done right. When raising children for the Lord, just do it right. Keep them close and in church and the Word of God. I promise you will be glad you did.

"And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." Ephesians 6:4
