Loopholes

Hello Everyone,
I read the story that just before the death of actor W.C. Fields, a friend visited Fields' hospital room and was surprised to find him thumbing through a Bible. Asked what he was doing with a Bible, Fields replied, "I'm looking for loopholes." When death comes, I am afraid that there will be a great number of folks who will be looking for loopholes. There is only one way.

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”  John 14:6

Serving God

Hello Everyone,
If you want to do something for the Lord there is  something. An elderly widow, restricted in her activities, wanted to serve Christ. After praying about this, she realized that she could bring blessing to others by playing the piano. The next day she placed this small ad in the Oakland Tribune: "Pianist will play hymns by phone daily for those who are sick and despondent--the service is free." The notice included the number to dial. When people called, she would ask, "What hymn would you like to hear?" Within a few months her playing had brought cheer to several hundred people. Many of them freely poured out their hearts to her, and she was able to help and encourage them.

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”  Colossians 3:23-24

What are you looking For?

Hello Everyone,
I saw where both the hummingbird and the vulture fly over the deserts. All vultures see and is looking for is rotting meat. But hummingbirds look for the colorful blossoms of desert plants. The vultures live on what was. They live on the past. They fill themselves with what is dead and gone. But hummingbirds live on what is. They seek new life. They fill themselves with freshness and life. Each bird finds what it is looking for. Folks do the same thing. They get what they are looking for.

“And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.” John 4:36

Secured Relationship

Hello Everyone,
Regarding salvation and assurance, there are three groups of people: (1) those who are secure but not sure; (2) those who are "sure" but not secure; and (3) those who are secure and sure. Category one are conscientious believers in Christ who are saved but lack assurance. In category two are professing Christians who say, "Even though I'm living in sin, I'll make it. After all, 'once saved, always saved!'" The third group are born-again believers who enjoy a warm, secure relationship with Christ each day.

“And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” 1 John 2:3-6

Get is Settled

Hello Everyone,
Sometime when you're in an airport, observe the difference between passengers who hold confirmed tickets and those who are on standby. The ones with confirmed tickets read newspapers, chat with their friends or sleep. The ones on standby hang around the ticket counter and pace. The difference is caused by the confidence factor. If you knew that in fifteen minutes you would have to stand in judgment before the Holy God and learn your eternal destiny, what would your reaction be? Would you pace? Would you say to yourself, "I don't know what God's going to say--will it be 'Welcome home, child,' or will it be 'Depart from me; I never knew you'? Now is the time to get it settled.

“(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)”  2 Corinthians 6:2

Success

Hello Everyone,
When asked, I am always quick to reply that I really cannot give you the formula for success in any area of life. But this one thing I do know and I can with most assurance pass along the formula for failure. It's this: Try to please everyone.

“Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.”
1 Thessalonians 4:1

Applies to Me

Hello Everyone,
A gray-haired old lady, long a member of her community and church, shook hands with the minister after the service one Sunday morning. "That was a wonderful sermon," she told him, "-- just wonderful. Everything you said applies to someone I know."

“Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.” Philippians 3:17

Be Not Weary

Hello Everyone,
During one of his political campaigns, a delegation called on Theodore Roosevelt at his home in Oyster Bay, Long Island. The President met them with his coat off and his sleeves rolled up. "Ah, gentlemen," he said, "come down to the barn and we will talk while I do some work." At the barn, Roosevelt picked up a pitchfork and looked around for the hay. Then he called out, "John, where's all the hay?" "Sorry, sir," John called down from the hayloft. "I ain't have time to toss it back down again after you pitched it up while the Iowa folks were here."

“For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.”
2 Thessalonians 3:10-13

Get Involved

Hello Everyone,
Did you hear about the company that makes blank bumper stickers? They're for people who don't want to get involved. Christians are more in need to be involved with the politics in these coming days. Ask the Lord to help us with the right folks to put into office. Also ask about the ones we need to get out as well.

Battles

Hello Everyone,
Everyday is a battle for a Christian. Truth is some days you are a winner and others, we are not so successful. I never worry about what I will do if I win a battle, but I always know exactly what I will do when I lose one. It seems that looking back and having time to put more thoughts into it, I can always comes up with a better results. Lord help us to stop and think and rejoice with exceeding joy.

“Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.”  1 Peter 4:12-13

Crossed Fingers

Hello Everyone,
I was with a elderly man the other day and I asked if he would go to heaven if he were to die today? He crossed his fingers and said I hope so. I shared with him that Jesus said, “You must be Born Again.” And shared with him the Gospel. After wards he was stilling holding onto his crossed fingers. Allow me to ask you, Is your eternity going to be based upon crossed fingers? Talking having Friday the 13th bad luck!

“That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.”  John 3:6,7

Thankful

Hello Everyone,
Like so many folks I too get discouraged. What I have found is that I can not allow myself to stay discouraged. I have to force myself to think of the positive and the future. It really helps because there is always something to be thankful for. And I have way too much to not be thankful

“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

No Problems

Hello Everyone,
I see so many young folks and young parents that seemingly have all the problems of the world on their shoulders.  Let me remind you, SMILE AND THANK GOD  Because you don’t have the problems of the world.

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”  John 14:27

Worst Enemy

Hello Everyone,
I read this somewhere and made myself a mental note. No one is the reason of your happiness or unhappiness. Except you. Because you are your worst enemy. We just like to blame others for our problems. It is just a mental thing that makes folks feel better about themselves. Yes, it is!

“He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.” Proverbs 16:20

Grudges

Hello Everyone,
I know of some folks who hold grudges for years. Sort like the Hatfield and McCoys. I don’t believe that it is because they can’t get peace, it is because they don’t want peace. Folks should learn to make peace with your past so that it will not ruin your present.

“Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. “ 1 John 2:8

Distribute the Load

Hello Everyone,
We have all heard the saying, “That was the straw that broke the Camels back.” Did you know that camels can carry an awesome amount of weight. Anywhere from 250 lbs to 1200 lbs. The key things is how its load is distributed. If folks would learn this lesson, maybe the straw that keeps breaking their camels back would hold together better and longer.

“But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” Acts 20:24

Anger

Hello Everyone,
Be sure of this one thing any person who is angry on the right grounds, against the right persons, in the right manner, at the right moment, and for the right length of time deserves great praise.

Ambitions

Hello Everyone,
As with all children they grow up with great ambitions. Usually in this order. To be like Dad...to be famous...to be a millionaire...to make enough to pay the bills...to hang on long enough to draw a pension. Let it be the responsibility of every dad and mom to instill an ambition to become Christians at an early life.

“Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” John 3:7

Set you Free

Hello Everyone,
Have you ever been in a position where someone asks you a question about something and you find yourself in an awkward position? You don't want to lie, but you really can't tell the truth because it will hurt their feelings. Yet are to proclaim the truth at all times. And pleading “The Fifth” is only going to make things worse. So what do you do? RUN for the truth shall make you free.

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32

Ambassador

Hello Everyone,
What is an ambassador? He is an authorized representative of a sovereign. He speaks not in his own name but on behalf of the ruler whose deputy he is, and his whole duty and responsibility is to interpret that ruler's mind faithfully to those to whom he is sent. Paul called himself an ambassador because he knew that when he proclaimed the gospel facts and promises and urged sinners to receive the reconciliation effected at Calvary, he was declaring Christ's message to the world. Let us all become Ambassador.

“And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”  Ephesians 6:19-20
