God Guides

Hello Everyone,
Last week we buried many friends. Only to say “So Long, I will see you later.” Yet I can see that there is still a great amount to work that needs to be done. God buries His workmen, but not His work.

“For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.”  Psalms 48:14

Calm Seas

Hello Everyone,
Any one can hold the helm when the sea is calm.

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”  Mark 4:39-41

First Hour

Hello Everyone,
The first hour of the morning is the rudder of the day.

“Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.” Psalms 143:8

Come Quickly

Hello Everyone,
The thing about house work is that it never comes to an end. Says my wife. Sure hope there is no house work in Heaven.  Even so come quickly Lord Jesus

“He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”  Revelation 21:20

Talk is Cheap

Hello Everyone,    Thurs  25
There is no doubt during these days of election talk is cheap because the supply always exceeds the demand. Amen.

“The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness: and the end of his talk is mischievous madness.”  Ecclesiastes 10:13

The Carpenter

Hello Everyone,
The story is told of a man who lived for years in fear of strange, hideous animals who would hide under his bed and come out at night to prowl the room. One day the man told a friend, "My brother finally solved my problem." "Oh, is he a psychiatrist?" the friend asked. "No, a carpenter. He cut the legs off my bed."
I also know of a Carpenter that solves all things.

“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.”  1 Timothy 1:15

A Smile

Hello Everyone,
A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.

Serving God

Hello Everyone,
I have found that many folks wish to serve God -- but in an advisory capacity only.

“O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.” Psalms 116:16

Faith in Jesus

Hello Everyone,
If I were to disposed of all my property to my family. There is one thing that I wish I could give them and that is faith in Jesus Christ. If they had that it will take them farther than all the riches of the world. For nothing last forever. It will come to an end, die or decay in this world.

“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”  Matthew 16:26

Stay Busy

Hello Everyone,
When one makes an abrupt stop it can be a great mistake. I think it's wise to keep your hand on the plough.  If you have retired from your job, find something to do, or find a substitute activities, such as volunteer work or getting involved in the community. No matter what just find a way to keep busy. And believe me there is plenty to do around the church.

“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.”  Ecclesiastes 9:10

Busy with No Results

Hello Everyone,
Two men were out hunting. Neither was a good shot. After they had tramped through the fields for hours, they had seen plenty of rabbits but had yet to hit one. With evening coming on, both were getting tired. One turned to the other and said, "Tom, what about it? Let's just miss two more and call it a day." Despite the lack of anything to show for their time, these two hunters probably expended as much energy and effort as if they had bagged twenty rabbits. The same thing, unfortunately, can and does happen to people. "It is not enough to be busy," someone once said, "one must also get results.

Vacation

Hello Everyone,
Every now and then one needs to get away, have a little relaxation. Then when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer and your more relaxed. I also found that when you get some distance away from the work, it doesn’t seem to as big a job.

“And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught. And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.” Mark 6:30-32

Wisdom in Matters

Hello Everyone,
I have found that it is easy to make decisions on matters for which you have no responsibility. Most likely true for you as well. A fellow told me to junk out my old van and get a new one. Easy for him to say. I’ll just have to trust the Lord in the matter.

“He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.”

Mow the Weeds

Hello Everyone,
Our lives are fields that primarily contain weeds. We cannot produce good fruit. We can however mow the weeds, but that effort alone will never produce acceptable fruit. If we really want good fruit we will have to go deeper. We must plow up the whole field and start again with new plants.

“Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, …” Ezekiel 18:31

Only Jesus Can

Hello Everyone,
Today there is little difference in ethical behavior between the churched and the unchurched. There's as much pilferage and dishonesty among the churched as the unchurched. And I'm afraid that applies pretty much across the board: religion can not and will not be life changing.  Only Jesus can do that.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”  2 Corinthians 5:17

Thin Thread

Hello Everyone,
Many people use mighty thin thread when mending their ways.

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:9,10

Our True Companion

Hello Everyone,
When we face difficulties, we sometimes forget God's past faithfulness. We see only the detours and the dangerous path. But look back and you will also see the joy of victory, the challenge of the climb, and the presence of your traveling Companion who has promised never to leave you nor forsake you. So we as Christians need to stop along life's road and look back. Although it might have been winding and steep, we can see how God directed us by His faithfulness.

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”  Hebrews 13:5

Good Health

Hello Everyone,
Folks who practice their religious faith regularly may be getting some earthly benefits. It seems that these folks appear to be healthier compared to people who never attend a house of worship. About 4 percent of those who regularly went to church or synagogues reported poor health, compared with 9 percent of those who did not attend a house of worship. And 36 percent of weekly worshippers reported they were in excellent health, compared with 26 percent of non-attenders. Why the difference? Jesus

“And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.” Matthew 4:23

Serving the Lord

Hello Everyone,
One thing that concerns me today is the lack of young folks serving the Lord. It could very well be because the old folks aren’t leading by example. “Yea, but preacher, my bones hurt, my eyes aren’t what they used to be and beside I sometimes have accidents.” I know that getting old is not fun, no matter how old you are or how old God allows you to live, God has something for you to do!

“Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.” Deuteronomy  4:10

Last Things

Hello Everyone,
I have three last things that one should know and do if tomorrow was your last tomorrow.
1) Better know your salvation. 2) Clean up and Confess up.  3) Win as many folks to the Lord as you can.

“One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.”  Romans 14:5

Dying to self

Hello Everyone,
Our proof to the Lord is daily dying to self in order to please Him. It is and it should be and it needs to be not my will but thy will be done.

“I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.”  Psalms 40:8

Love Is

Hello Everyone,
One of our ladies in the church wrote this and I wanted to share it with you. It is titled “Love is:”
“Love is an unconditional feeling of admiration, appreciation and respect for another. With a continual dieing to self in order to please and fulfill the desires of another.”  Amen

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”  John15:13
