An Advantage

Hello Everyone,

A former pro basketball star tells that at the age of 15 he attended a summer basketball camp that was run a former college and pro star. There is where he heard the words, "Just remember that if you're not working at your game to the utmost of your ability, there will be someone out there somewhere with equal ability who will be working to the utmost of his ability. And one day you'll play each other, and he'll have the advantage."

As for Christians, remember there is a real world that is trying to get an advantage over you. If you don't stay on top of your walk and Bible studies they will have the advantage.

"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ." Colossians 3:23,24

Let not man put asunder

Hello Everyone,

I have often wondered how children handle divorce? That question was the springboard for an article in a recent magazine. A young boy and his sister ages 9 and 7, respectively are the real victims of their parent's recent divorce. On Wednesday nights their dad takes them to the local mall for dinner and all the video games they can play. They eat hot dogs and pizza with a cream soda. Then they go to the Time Out video arcade and play Skee Ball. But even in the artificial paradise of the mall, they made it clear what their hearts desire really is for their parent separation. There was a wishing well there and they would always throw a penny in with a prayer, "We pray that Mom and Dad would get back together."

"The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." Matthew 19:3-6

Discontent

Hello Everyone,

Some folks just like to complain. There was an inveterate grumbler who couldn't find anything about which to give thanks or praise. Although financially he was a very successful farmer, because of a very sour attitude, no one enjoyed his company. Nothing seemed to please him. His pastor tried to help brighten the outlook, all to no avail. At the time of the potato harvest, the disgruntled farmer enjoyed a bumper crop. Wanting to strike a more cheerful note, the minister suggested, "Brother I understand you've had a tremendous season with potatoes this year. That certainly must be cause for rejoicing!" The chronic complainer never even smiled, but sourly responded, "Yes, it's true. The harvest was good enough. But my problem is, I don't have any bad potatoes to feed my pigs." A thankful heart is not only a virtue, but the parent of all other virtues.

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him." Colossians 3:15-17
