Merry Christmas

Hello Everyone,
I want to take this opportunity to say, “MERRY CHRISTMAS” May the Lord Bless as we again celebrate the time of the birth of our Savoir Jesus Christ. Jesus is the reason for the season.

“And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.”

Your Actions and Your Words

Hello Everyone,
There is no doubt that our background and circumstances will have influenced who we are, but, we are still responsible for our actions and our words. This also applies to hurting folks. No matter what - it is still all about Jesus. Amen

Best Times

Hello Everyone,
The greatest blessing I have with my wife is that she is my best friend. We are together a lot these days, going and doing. But the other day it came to me again that my best friend and I can be doing something together or doing nothing and still have the best time. Sometimes it is just good to be still and just do nothing.

Make Best of your Things

Hello Everyone,
Some of the happiest folks I know do not have nearly as much as some of the most miserable folks I know. Which would seem to indicate that the more you have the more it robs you of your joy. The beginning of joy comes when you make the best of the things that you do have. Great or small.

“Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.” Psalms 32:11

Be Still

Hello Everyone,
The command, to be still, would appear on the surface to be very easy to obey. However, in many cases, being still does not necessarily come naturally, especially for those who are action-oriented or highly motivated. Most of us are inclined to be active. We do not usually associate being still as a particularly productive activity. However, God knows what is best for us and instructs us to be still. Sometimes the best thing we can do is to be still.

"Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10

Encouragement

Hello Everyone,
We are finishing another week and I want to try to encourage you. The greatest encouragement for any one is for you yourself to be an encouragement to others. No matter how bad your heart is broken, someone has a greater need. And you need to learn this, that no matter how bad your life is, this world is not going to stop for you. Rejoice and be glad. Help someone to have a better day and you will be glad you did.

“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalms 118:24

I Quit

Hello Everyone,
I was helping my wife do some cleaning and she gave me a job cleaning some really dirty chairs. The more I scrubbed the more dirt I found. The more dirt I found the more frustrated I was getting. I thought I was never going to get those chairs clean. I asked to be fired. I have never been fired before so this was going to a new experience. She told me that she was not going to fire me. So I did what I knew I needed to do, I quit. That is a true account, and one that is played out much in these days we live in. Too many quit when things get tough.

“But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” Acts 20:24

Determined Crows

Hello Everyone,
I was watching some crows in the top of some tree in our back yard and they were screaming their heads off. After awhile I had heard all the crowing that I wanted to hear. So I spooked them off. And off they went to another tree just about a 100 yards away. And then guess what they started doing? Yes that’s right, they started crowing again. I thought, they are doing what they are suppose to be doing and they aren’t going to allow a little interruption to stop them. Oh, that Christians were so determined!

“For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.”

Light your Heart

Hello Everyone,
As God searches your heart, will you allow Him once again to light up your life? Take time to do away with greed and selfishness and once again lighting the candle of love, grace and mercy. Finding the peace and joy you once had and allowing God to light those areas of our life again. Let Jesus be the Light of Your Life.

Do It

Hello Everyone,
Sometimes what we say we’ll do and what we do are two completely different things. It’s not that we out and out decided to lie to someone as we had no idea of circumstances that were ahead of us. So we make promises which then are broken and leave people discouraged with us. And yes, it happens to everyone at some time or another. Everyone that is, except God. God’s promises are sure.

“Can thine heart endure, or can thine hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with thee? I the LORD have spoken it, and will do it.” Ezekiel 22:14

Jesus never Fails

Hello Everyone,
Are you facing a struggle in life? Do you know where God’s leading you is a scriptural one? Are you claiming the promises of His word and not just your own feeling? If you can answer yes to these questions, then take heart. God is not through with you yet. Believe the promises and move ahead, because, Jesus Never Fails.

Grandparents

Hello Everyone,
Get around almost any grandparent, mention their grandchildren and you will have to see a book full of pictures and hear an hour worth of tales on how wonderful and magnificent their grandchildren are. They are able to leap tall building in a single bound, diapers and all. The Bible told us centuries ago this was how it is suppose to be. Children’s Children are the crown of old men (and also of gracefully aging women).

“Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers”

Be a Voice

Hello Everyone,
Has a Godly person you knew passed on? Their voice can still be heard. You can be their voice of assurance to others. The dead can only speak through the voices of the living. They praise God in heaven every day now. Live your life today, to be a testimony tomorrow. No one knows what it will mean to others later.

Delight God

Hello Everyone,
Everyone wants to delight God. I mean who does not want to make God happy. Well this verse tells you how you can do that. Live upright for Him. Its not about righteousness or good works, it’s about Holiness. Living Holy is an unholy world.

Take Heed

Hello Everyone,
Rehabilitation centers are everywhere today. If you have a problem, someone has gathered a group of people just like you together to talk about it. The idea is that somehow in the midst of all the discussions you are to realize you have a problem. We know we have problems in this world. That’s a given. We don’t need more people to point out the problems we have. What we need is a real way to deal with those problems. We need a way to help us control the urges that seem to control us. In the 119th Psalm in verse nine we have that solution. How can a young man cleanse his way? How can a person get free from the addictions? How can a person be free from the plague which has haunted and followed them? How? By taking HEED to the Word of God.

“Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.”
Psalm 119:9

Leave Kind Words

Hello Everyone,
I have learned that we are living in days when you have clue what a day will bring. Death is at every corner and accidents are just outside every door. When I get an opportunity to speak to my love ones, I always finish by sharing with them that I love them. Life is so short and so cruel. It does the heart good to leave with kind words and love.

“And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. “  1 John 3:23

Going Farther

Hello Everyone,
My son is growing up fast. What amazed me the other day was his prospective on his buddies and fellow cadets. He told me that anyone can go farther than they think. It is the thought that one can not that holds them back. Sure is a lot of wisdom for a 15 year old.

Real Words

Hello Everyone,
Many times folks make decisions that can have a great impact and leave a scar. That is what I see often in words of angry people. A father and son have not spoken in years because of something that was said. My heart was broken, and is still broken because they refused to mend the words.

Real Hurt

Hello Everyone,
In the course of time, if you live long enough, you will be hurt by another. And many times it will be a friend. The hurt can be by a misunderstanding, and accident or by bad choices. None the less the hurt is real. It is then that you have to pick yourself up and learn to forgive. Yes, it is not going to be easy. But with Christ you can do it. Many times they don’t know what they do.

“Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.”  Luke 23:34

Love of God

Hello Everyone,
There are times when two people get together an argument can happen. No two person see everything exactly alike. However that does not mean that they are mad or can’t get along. It does mean that folks are different. Our job as Christians is to love the unlovely, so that they can see the Love of God.

Fear the Lord

Hello Everyone,
The Bible has all the information we need to live peacefully daily here in this world. One thing God has told us through his word is we need to fear Him. This means we are to have a holy respect and reverence for who He is and what He stands for. For the most part, people do not have a problem doing just that. Most everyone you speak with will tell you they believe in and hold in high esteem our creator God.

Restoring Others

Hello Everyone,
Restoration is a much needed ministry. Just as we want the Lord to use us to win lost souls to Christ, we also want the Lord to help us to restore those who have turned from the straight and narrow way. The Bible encourages "ye which are spiritual" to restore those overtaken "in the spirit of meekness." It takes spiritual people to be effective in the ministry of restoration. May God help us to be ready to lend a helping hand to those who have fallen.

"Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted." Galatians 6:1

Helping Others

Hello Everyone,
It is possible for God's people to be "overtaken in a fault." Even though we have been born again and are indwelt by the Spirit of God, it does not mean that we are incapable of sinning.  The Word of God further teaches that the wayward child of God can be restored. Every detour from God's will leaves a person with regret, shame, and even permanent scars. It is always best for us to avoid those unwise and expensive turns away from God. The wisest decision is always to stay away from sin and remain on the path of obedience.

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,”  Hebrews 12:1

Pray Hard

Hello Everyone,
If there is ever a time to pray it is now. I am not talking about a simply little prayer. It’s time to beg and plead with God for His mercy on a sinful people. For His grace toward those that have disobeyed. Thankfully He has always loved us, and He always will. However we dare not confuse His love with a tolerance for sin. O Lord hear our prayers and forgive us for wanting to kick you out.

“O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.” Daniel 9:19

A faithful Man

Hello Everyone,
You have heard me plenty of times share with you that is is all about Jesus It’s not about our goodness, our talents, our needs, or really even our wants. No matter what your trial is, it is not as bad as dieing on a cross. That’s what He did for you. What are you facing that can be that bad? What are you doing for Him?

God's Law

Hello Everyone,
We don’t seem to have trouble obeying the laws in the land. We are faithful to our jobs because it meets our need for income. Then what is the problem with obeying God?  We are in need to go to God and worship Him in obedience. Never pass a chance to bow your head and bend our knees in humility before the Lord who is our maker.

Try It!

Hello Everyone,
Someone passed this along to me and I thought it was so good that I wanted to pass it along.
Ok let’s try something together. Get a good book. Pull the shades in the room you’re in to block out any outside distractions. Get a warm cup of coffee, tea or something to drink. Grab a blanket or whatever it takes to help you get real comfortable. Turn off the phone, TV or anything that may cause an interruption. Find a nice comfortable chair to sit in. Open your book to where you’re reading or any page will do for this experiment. Ok, now the shades are drawn, you’re comfortable, it’s quiet, now turn off the lights and read. You’re probably thinking, why turn off the lights? It’s to illustrate how many saved and unsaved people try to live life. We do everything we can to make our lives comfortable. We work to get the right job, buy the right house, we save money and so on. All the things we can do to make us comfortable, yet we live in the dark, almost blindfolded. To gain wisdom from a book we need light. To gain wisdom for our life we need the light of  Jesus.

“O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart. Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.” Proverbs 8:5,6

Election

Hello Everyone,
Pray for your elected officials to know God and do His will in these upcoming elections. We are in a real need of some godly folks to step up. Let us be found faithful to fall on our knees once again and ask God to give us the courage to stand up in the face of sinful, liberal lies that tell us, sin really does not matter. It matters very much. If not to us, it does matter to God.

End of a Thing

Hello Everyone,
What goes up must come down. If there is a beginning to something there must surely be an end. Everyone will agree to that. What God has started in your life as a Christian will one day come to an end here on earth. You have a course and a job that needs to be completed. Let us be found faithful and blameless before the Lord until the end.

Hello Everyone,
The best way to know if something’s phony is to know the original so well you can’t be fooled. God’s Word is the truth. It’s the original. Come to know it so well that no wanderer could lead you off course. To know God‘s Word and truth will help one to see those wanderers..

Praise God

Hello Everyone,
There is nothing wrong with praising God out loud. The world has no problem with it. One day, the great preacher of yesteryear Harry Ironside was traveling with friends on a ferry. They were having a glorious time singing praises to the Lord when someone critically interrupted them saying, “Who are you people? What are you doing?” Dr. Ironside replied, “We’re just some Christians having a good time praising the Lord.” And the heckler replied, “You’re a bunch of fools!” Ironside said, “You’re right! We’re fools for Christ’s sake.”
The way of the Christian is sometimes foolishness in the eyes of the world. Yet it is not what we feel about the way of the world.

“Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.” 1 Corinthians 3:18

Hello Everyone,
If all those people in the Old Testament felt it was important to speak of a coming Messiah. Should we not feel it is just as important to tell of that same risen Saviour? Tell how He’s coming again? It is the most important  information one needs for eternity. Have you told someone of Christ today?

Worry

Hello Everyone,
I am guessing that you worry every now and then.  Yes I am talking to you, don’t look around and point your finger at someone else. You worry even a little bit? And yet the Bible so clearly tells us not to worry about anything but to pray about everything. There are really only two classes of things for which we ought not to worry: those things we cannot do anything about and the things we can do something about. The best thing you can say about worry is that it is useless. The worst thing you can say about it is that it dishonors God because worry is not faith.

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Philippians 4:6

God in us

Hello Everyone,
When you read the Bible it is amazing at some of the reading of the faith and love of God of these folks. Stephen was stoned to death for sharing the gospel. Nevertheless even at the end of his life Stephen asked God to forgive them for what they were doing. The love he had for these people in life which caused him to share Christ with them, was the love he had for them even as these same people put him to death. Amazing love how can it be. It is not something that we can do it is God in us.

“No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.”  1 John 4:12,13

Sincere Heart

Hello Everyone,
The rich man asked Jesus, “Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?” Then Jesus asked him if he had kept the law. He said yes. In love Jesus responded, “One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow Me” But the rich man was “sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions” (Mark 10:17-22). Listen carefully, Jesus let him go. Jesus didn’t run after him. Jesus didn’t lower His standards. Jesus will not force Himself on you. You have to come to Jesus with a sincere heart.

“So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these?…”  John 21:15

Some days it just feels as though the weight of the whole world falls on your shoulders. Problems seem to arise at every turn. Family situations keep coming one after another. Friends seem to have turned a deaf ear to your concerns and problems. Pressures from work and co-workers keep growing day after day. It may even seem as if there is no way out. However God says there is. As our never changing God spoke these words to the people of Israel, you might want to bend an ear to what they say even today. Is there anything too hard for God?

“Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?” Jeremiah 32:27

Patience Again

Hello Everyone,
Patience is a trying time for each of us. Each day we are faced with the burdens of life. However think back for a moment of the daily tasks you do now which once was a learning or trial. Walking was a trial when you were 1 and driving when you were 16. What once seemed almost impossible, you now do with ease. The trials you face today may make a better Christian of you for tomorrow.

“Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.”  James 1:3

Opinions

Hello Everyone,
Today people are going to form an opinion about you. You and only you can choose what that opinion may be. However you don’t have to go it alone. Ask God to help you be all that you can be for Him. Then people will automatically see the best of you, because they will see Jesus in you. And Jesus is who we are to be like.

“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.”  1 John 3:1

Control God

Hello Everyone,
Can you control God? The all powerful, all knowing, everywhere at every moment God. The one who can do anything He desires. Can you control Him?  No, you can not. But your actions and behavior can control His actions toward you. Imagine that. You can have full control of how the Almighty reacts to you. How? Well the Bible says if you harbor sin in your life God will not hear you.  Psalm 66:18 The Children of Israel limited the Holy One of Israel, God, when they turned their back on Him. Have you turned your back on God this week?

“How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert! Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.” Psalm 78:40-41

SING

Hello Everyone,
I love to watch children sing and participate in the church services. They are the ones that are trying. Many times they don’t sing loud or soft or even on key for that matter. But they are participating. You can’t embarrass them, they are going to sing no matter what. Why? They want to.  The Bible says sing aloud; make a joyful noise unto God. Our heavenly Father does not care about the quality of your voice. He cares about the content of our heart. So SING!!!

“Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.”  Psalm 81:1

Love / Hate

Hello Everyone,
This may come as a surprise to you, but just because you’re a Christian doesn’t mean you’re supposed to love everything.  Now, we hear that Christians are to be a people of love, and that is true. But did you know that if you’re a Christian, not only must you learn to love, but you also must learn to hate? If you love God, then you are to hate what God hates. It is true in every realm. If you love flowers, you hate weeds. If you love health, you hate germs. If you love God, you hate evil. It is just that plain and simple.

“Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: He preserveth the souls of His saints; He delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.” Psalm 97:10

What's your Choice

Hello Everyone,
God made a choice to send His Son to save your sins. God made a choice to reveal the truths of the gospel for salvation so you could live with Him eternally. God makes a choice to forgive and also to forget your sins that are washed in the blood. That’s what God has chosen to do for you. What have you chosen to do for God?

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. “

God does too

Hello Everyone,
Could it be that our days would be better and less trying if we spent more of our good times with God and not just our sad times? I love to talk with happy folks more than I do mad or sad folks. I wonder if God does too!

“Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.”  1 Peter 4:12,13

Better Days

Hello Everyone,
Would you like your day to go a little better? Then think on this, Jesus came and died for your sins so you could have Eternal joy. No matter how hard today may seem, it is just a speck in time compared to eternity with Him. Think on Jesus, He can bring you joy.

Helping Hands

Hello Everyone,
One can not turn on TV or Radio with out folks asking for help for hurting people. Feed the Hungry; Help the Children; those starving in Africa, India and around the world. And yes they’re telling the truth, these people do need help. Yet what about those living within your own country that are starving and homeless.  It’s never a bad idea to help others in any part of the world. Nevertheless I am afraid that for most people, when they put a dollar in an envelope to feed a stranger many times miss the family that is in your neighborhood.

Thinking

Hello Everyone,
The proud father brought home a backyard swing set for his children and immediately started to assemble it with all the neighborhood children anxiously waiting to play on it.  After several hours of reading the directions, attempting to fit bolt A into slot B, etc., he finally gave up and called upon an old handyman working in a neighboring yard. The old-timer came over, threw the directions away, and in a short while had the set completely assembled. It's beyond me," said the father, "how you got it together without even reading instructions." The old-timer replied, “There are time when reading just doesn’t since, it is then you have to think.”

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.”  Philippians 4:8,9

Joy Unspeakable

Hello Everyone,
Revival always begins when people begin to confess their faults to one another, pray for one another, and forgive one another. Revival isn’t raising the roof with a lot of emotion. It is getting the walls down. It is not just saying, “I am going to get right with God.” It is saying, “I want to get right with my brothers and sisters.” When we are reconciled, revival will come. And rejoicing will surely follow. And not any kind of rejoicing, there will be Holy Spirit joy when you know there is nothing between your soul and the Savior and nothing between your soul and a brother! Joy unspeakable!

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” Psalm 133:1

That's Why

Hello Everyone,
As a parent, you’ve probably told your children to do something and then they would asked why. And what did you say? “Because I told you that’s why. Period.” I believe there are times when parents want their children to do things and they need to explain their rationale. It’s important to teach principles for living instead of mere commands and rules. But sometimes children are not able to understand, so the answer I just mentioned is one that simply communicates parental authority to a child.
Leviticus is a book full of laws that no one completely understands. And yet did God stop to explain the law? No. He simply said, “I am the Lord your God.” Sometimes you just have to trust God with full obedience.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD."

Not Now

Hello Everyone,
I was sharing with a fellow once about his need to be saved and he told me “Not Now.“ I asked why not now. What is more important?  “Don’t you realize that if you don’t receive Him, that you may die and go to hell? He said, “I know.” I said, “But there’s no middle ground.” And yet he still refused.  Every person has a choice. There is no neutral ground. You are either choosing the blessing of God or the curse of hell.

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.”

Shake Hands

Hello Everyone,
There was a preacher who kept a painting of a shipwreck, in his study. There were sailors in lifeboats reaching out their hands to people floating on debris from the ship. A little boy looked at the painting and asked his daddy, “Are those in the lifeboats trying to save those people or are they just shaking hands?”
Wouldn’t it be a shame if all you did was shake the hands of those around you, when you could be serving and showing them the way to God through Jesus Christ?  If folks are dying and going to hell every day, then we need to do more that just shake hands.

Hello Everyone,
Fall jump right into our lap in a hurry. Saturday it was 102 and then Monday it was 60. Then this morning it was 54 degrees. Only God can change the thermostat that quickly. My sinus and bones are feeling the changing of seasons. Praise the Lord, one day soon the Lord shall come quickly and I will be apart of that change too. I pray that you can say the same, Amen!

House Cleaning

Hello Everyone,
Everyone has a meaning for the term, “house cleaning“. Keeping a clean house is no small chore. But it is a necessary chore that must needs be done. Homes are in need of being kept clean to provide a good atmosphere, clean surroundings and healthy enjoinment. It is wise to maintain a clean house as much as you keep a clean heart. You never know who will show up!

Watching the Scoreboard

Hello Everyone,
While watching a baseball game one is reminded how well things are going just be looking at the scoreboard. Many times I am told by someone, wouldn’t it be nice if we knew what was coming? My reply is still the same, “NO” If you knew what was coming it down the road, it would drive you nuts in a short time. It is best to leave all that in God’ hands. For God can handle it.

Hello Everyone,
Well there is a race going on here at my office that you know nothing about. I have this new computer, that I have been in need of for many years,  and this new computer and I are trying to see who can drive the other nuts first. I must say, it has been a real battle and at times I have given in to a temporary defeat. But I am glad to proclaim to you today, the computer has won. I am not nearly as smart as it continues to be. Good thing I have all my trust in God and not leaning on this computer. Amen!

Sharp Stuff

Hello Everyone,
How sharp can sharp be? Shaving razors blade are sharp but you can’t keep selling razor blades if they stay sharp. So, what do you do, add more blades and proclaim it to be sharpest of all. Now give this a thought, suppose that over a period of time they produce these same razor blades but they just aren’t as sharp as they were when they first came out! Well, I guess you would have to just have try something new so that you can continue to get that smooth shave that you used to get from the single edge blade. Thank God is the same.

Rich But Poor

Hello Everyone,
It has been reported that  John D. Rockefeller had an income of approximately a million dollars a week toward the end of his life. Yet his doctors allowed him to eat only a bare minimum. One of his biographers said he lived on a diet a pauper would have hated. Rockefeller was the richest man in the world, but he didn't have the ability to enjoy even his food.

Amusement

Hello Everyone,
When it comes to all-out, world-class, real stupidity, there may never be a dumber creature than a human being in search of amusement. Human beings are the only creatures who will voluntarily leave an air-conditioned home and drive 500 miles to spend a week with spiders in a musty cabin, wearing damp bathing suits and eating food that tastes like charcoal lighter. They are the only ones who will get out of a perfectly comfortable bed at four o'clock in the morning, load $600 worth of equipment into a $12,000 boat and tow it to a lake so they can spend an entire day trying to catch a fish. Now I feel better about myself, don’t you?

Pleasing Everyone

Hello Everyone,
An old fable that has been passed down for generations tells about an elderly man who was traveling with a boy and a donkey. As they walked through a village, the man was leading the donkey and the boy was walking behind. The townspeople said the old man was a fool for not riding, so to please them he climbed up on the animal's back. When they came to the next village, the people said the old man was cruel to let the child walk while he enjoyed the ride. So, to please them, he got off and set the boy on the animal's back and continued on his way. In the third village, people accused the child of being lazy for making the old man walk, and the suggestion was made that they both ride. So the man climbed on and they set off again. In the fourth village, the townspeople were indignant at the cruelty to the donkey because he was made to carry two people. The frustrated man was last seen carrying the donkey down the road. The saying is true, you can’t please everyone.

“For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.”  Galatians 1:10

Conforming

Hello Everyone,
There is no slave like the man free to do as he pleases - because many times what he pleases is self-destructive. A California psychiatrist recently complained that four out of every ten teenagers and young adults who visited his medical center have a psychological sickness he can do nothing about. According to him, each of these teenagers demands that this world conform to his uncontrolled desires. Society today, has provided teens with so many escape routes that they will never have to stand their ground against disappointment, postponement of pleasure and the weight of responsibility -- all forces which shape character. The psychiatrist goes on to say that If the personality disorder persists into adulthood there will be a society of pleasure-driven people hopelessly insecure and dependent.

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,”

Hello Everyone,
Have you ever had the case of “Too Much.” You know it is time when you say unto yourself that you have too much to do, too much to remember, too much to finish, and too much is expected.  You want to escape to a place where there is no more pressures, no more deadlines, no more practices and no more expectations. Then life would be at peace. Thank God for the things you have to do, if it were not for these things, there would be no need of you.

Demanding

Hello Everyone,
There was this little fellow who was demanding his mother get something for him. His mother replied that he did not need that. He yelled, “But I want it!” Many times children have trouble with what is needed and what is wanted. So often our needs get confused with our wants and that is why so many suffer financially. We expect this of children, as adults there is need to keep it in check.

Hello Everyone,
One should thank God every morning when you get up, that you have something to do that day which must be done. Thank God you have something to do.

Goals and Plans

Hello Everyone,
I read this and it really caught me attention. Goals and plans are the magic keys to happiness and success! Only 3 percent of all people have goals and plans and write them down. Ten percent more have goals and plans, but keep them in their heads. The rest -- 87 percent -- drift through life without definite goals or plans. They do not know where they are going and others dictate to them. It went on to say the 3 percent who have goals and plans that are written down accomplish from fifty to one hundred times more during their life than the 10 percent who have goals and plans and merely keep them in their heads. These statistics should motivate you to set definite personal goals and establish a plan and then commit both your goals and plans to writing. Please note, the Creator committed his goals and plans to writing in the Holy Bible!

“Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.”  Psalms 37:5,6

Going to Quit

Hello Everyone,
How often have you though of quitting? How many times have you heard yourself say “I'm going to quit.” I am ashamed to tell you that I have quit many times while trying to stay the course for Jesus Christ. I talked to young man and he too was discouraged and ready to quit. At least that is what he thinks he wants to do. When we began our service, we said the Lord Jesus Christ was calling us to tell others about Him. I think we had better present our resignation to the One who called you. So get down on your knees here, and you tell Him that you are going to quit. Let Him hear what you've just said -- that it's too hard, that too many people criticize you. Tell the Lord -- after all He's the One who sent you. For the Lord knows how hard it is to finish the course.

“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” Joshua 1:9

Working on it

Hello Everyone,
A young daughter was working so diligently at her homework that her father became curious and asked her what she was doing. “I'm writing a report on the condition of the world and how to bring peace," she replied.    "Isn't that a pretty big order for a young girl?" her father asked. "Oh, no," she answered, "and don't worry. There are three of us in the class working on it!"  Forgive us all for not working on it!

Perfect Law

Hello Everyone,
It is a wise person who lives by a system of rules and guidelines and conducts himself according to those principles. We often hear criticism of rules and accusations of legalism because we seek to adhere to the principles of godliness and behavior found in the Word of God. Satan has deceived many into believing that laws are only confining and restrictive, and that freedom and pleasure are found in the absence of rules. But, the Bible teaches differently. The Scripture says, "The law of the wise is a fountain of life." Of course, the perfect law, which we should all seek to learn and live by, is found in the Holy Scripture. The person who will be taught by the Word of God, and will determine to follow its precepts, will find that it is a "fountain of life."
God is the Creator of life and the Source of true life. He promises us eternal life in Heaven, as well as an abundant life on earth. Our Lord is very interested in our experiencing the best that life can offer. He wants us to know that life is not found in rejecting and rebelling against His Word, but in receiving and believing His Word and walking in His precepts

"The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death."  Proverbs 14:13

Dropped It

Hello Everyone,
I heard about a little girl who said to her mother, “Do you remember that priceless vase we all love so much that’s been handed down to our family from one generation to another generation?” The mother said, “Yes.” The little girl sheepishly revealed, “Well, this generation just dropped it.”
Now friend, this generation cannot afford to drop it. The faith that we enjoy must be handed down from generation to generation. We must not drop this priceless heirloom that God has placed into our hands. The early Christians turned the world upside down. Their charge and ours today is the same—to rescue the perishing and care for the dying, to go to the helpless one and tell them Jesus saves.

“Now also when I am old and greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have showed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.” Psalms 71:18

One Step at a Time

Hello Everyone,
We are changed from glory to glory by the power of the Holy Spirit. That doesn’t mean it happens overnight. But one step at a time.  Today you ought to have a little more glory than yesterday. Today you ought to be a little bit more like Jesus than you were yesterday. And tomorrow, you ought to be even more like Jesus. Are you becoming like Jesus? Not if you’re not in the Word. Don’t you think it’s time for this generation to get serious about the Word of God? Set aside a time and a place to get alone with Him every day and pray,

“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 3:18

Mean Business

Hello Everyone,
In Old Testament days, when a tribe commenced war, they would sometimes hurl a spear into enemy territory. It made no difference whether the enemy was there or not. It really wasn’t for the enemy to see. It was a declaration of war. Some would call it a throwing down of the gauntlet. You may be reading this, wanting the victory in something today, and yet you haven’t let your arrow of faith fly into the enemy’s territory. Faith that acts is a good way to bring the enemy into submission.
We don’t fight our enemy with actual bows and arrows, instead we fight him with the weapons of prayer and the Word. When we pray, we face the foe. By letting the arrow of prayer fly, God moves in, and our prayer becomes the Lord’s deliverance. God does business with those who mean business.

“And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: He shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in Him.” Psalm 37:40

Abilities

Hello Everyone,
God has given you abilities and God wants you to take those abilities and invest them in Him. Friend, it is a sin for you to be less than what God called you to be. Sure, you may not be the next Einstein, Babe Ruth, Betty Crocker, or Billy Graham. But that’s not the point. The danger is that you will not do what you can do.
There are three people inside you - 1. Who you are right now, 2. Who you could be for evil if you allowed the devil to get a hold of you, 3. Who you could be for God.
I pray you will give your all to God for Him to use you.

“And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God’s sake, Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.”  Luke 18:29-30

Mixed Emotions

Hello Everyone,
On the night of Jesus’ arrest, Peter denied Jesus — three times! In spite of his lack of loyalty, Jesus extended an invitation of mercy to Peter and said, “Come and dine.” There on the shores of the Sea of Galilee after His resurrection, Jesus came to Peter and prepared a table of restoration. Can you imagine what was going through Peter’s mind? Guilt and gladness, fear and fascination, wonder and worship, a whole mess of mixed emotions! He could not believe that he was being invited to the table of the One he had deserted just days before. And not only was he being invited but restored! The depth of Jesus’ covenant love is not exhausted when we sin. There is forgiveness and restoration.

“He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.” Job 33:28

Having Understanding

Hello Everyone,
Is God righteous? Yes! How is the righteousness of God revealed? It is revealed from faith to faith. God gives you truth; you believe that truth; then God gives you more truth. The more you obey the light, the more light you get. The reason some of us don’t understand the Bible any more than we do is because we have not been living up to the light that God has already given us. If you want to understand the part of the Bible that you don’t understand, then begin to obey the part that you do understand. Then you’ll begin to understand what you didn’t understand. Ask God for faith that will help reveal to you the hidden truths of His Word that are hard for you to understand right now.

“Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.” Psalm 119:34

Church Services

Hello Everyone,
When entering in any church service, the congregation preaches more than half the sermon. The congregation brings an atmosphere with it. The atmosphere is either a barrier through which the preacher's word cannot penetrate; or else it is such an expectancy that even the poorest sermon becomes a living flame. It  has much to do with how you come to church. How will you come to church this Sunday?

“Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.  Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.”  Psalms 100:2-4

Helping Others

Hello Everyone,
If you feel a nervous breakdown, anxiety or depression coming on, you would do good to find somebody else with a problem -- a serious one -- and get involved with that individual, helping them solve their problem. In helping others to solve their problem, will help you with your own problem. You're no longer thinking internally. You're no longer letting things gnaw at your stomach. You're no longer getting disturbed about yourself because you're not thinking about yourself. You're thinking about others. And that is some good medicine.

“As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”  1 Peter  4:10

Backsliding

Hello Everyone,
An older Christian shared with me, (boastingly)  that they were just backsliding. I reminded then that backsliding is a painful reminder of the consequences of sin: "You cannot backslide without suffering."  The smile seemed to disappear for a moment.

“Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.”  Jeremiah 2:19

Unthankfulness

Hello Everyone,
If you should give me a dish of sand, and tell me there were particles of iron in it, I might look for them by moving my fingers back and forth, and never be able to detect any iron. But if I were to take a magnet, and sweep through it, and it would draw the iron particles. So it is with the unthankful heart. Like the finger in the sand, it discovers no mercies nor blessings. But you let the thankful heart sweep through the day, and as the magnet finds the iron, so it will find some heavenly blessings.

Count your Blessings

Hello Everyone,
A man who owned a small estate wished to sell it. Sending for a real estate agent, he asked him to write an advertisement describing the house and land. When the ad was ready, the agent took it to the owner and read it to him. "Read that again," said the owner.
The agent read the description of the estate once more. "I don't think I will sell after all," said the owner. "I have been looking for an estate like that all my life, and I did not know that I owned it!"
Count your blessings -- yes, but start by asking God to open your eyes to see your possessions that God has given you already. Begin by recognizing all that you have in Christ. That will change your entire perspective and enable you to praise God for what you have.

“And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.”  Deuteronomy 28:2

Seeing with Wisdom

Hello Everyone,

I looked into the face of a man that I admired and considered to have much wisdom. He sees how to fix a lot of things. He sees when folks are tired and weary and is able to make them feel better. He even sees what you meant to do, even when you did not do it. I asked him one day how he was able to see that way all the time, and he said, "It was the way he learned to look at things as he grew older in Christ."

All in the Attitude

Hello Everyone,
A man who was celebrating his 100th birthday was told by a friend, "Well, I congratulate you, but I'm afraid you'll not be here to celebrate a second hundred." To this the man replied, "I'm not so sure of that. The fact is, I am feeling very much stronger to begin this second hundred than I was when I began the first." That's the attitude Christians need as they face their senior years. They should not let their advancing age and declining physical vigor stop them from doing things for the Lord. Instead, older Christians should continue to be fruitful and productive. Besides it is will inspire the younger generation.

Off Monday

Hello Everyone,

Many go to work on Monday and can't wait until Friday. In fact, since Mondays are so depressing for so many people, that day may be hazardous to your health. A long-term follow-up study of nearly 4000 men found that 38 had died of sudden heart attacks on Monday while only 15 died on Friday. For men with no history of heart disease, Monday was particularly dangerous. So now you know why I take Mondays off!

Just a Block of Wood

Hello Everyone,

I saw in a magazine about this man who with his chain saw scalper animal figures. Give him a block of wood, and in short order he can carve an animal with his chain saw. I got to thinking about that. God is the Master sculptor, and is at work in our lives. We may think that He must always use small, delicate instruments, but maybe at times He uses a chain saw. Or so it seems to us in our pain and anguish. But let us not fear, for He has a pattern in His mind for each of us, and He is shaping us into that design.

Tribulation

Hello Everyone,

In a picture I saw of the ancient Roman method of threshing grain, one man was seen stirring up the sheaves while another rides over them in a cart like thing with rollers instead of wheels. Sharp stones and rough bits of iron were attached to these wheels to help separate the husks from the grain. That cart was called a tribulum -- from which we get our word "tribulation." When great affliction comes to us, we often think of ourselves as being torn to pieces. Thank God, for God would never puts us under the pressure of sorrow and disappointment needlessly. There is a reason, for God does all things well.

"And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us." Romans 5:3-5

A Beast

Hello Everyone,

Some time ago I came across an article entitled, "Qualifications of a Good Pastor," and talks about the demands often placed on God's servants. It reads as follows: A good pastor must have: The strength of an ox, The tenacity of a bulldog, The daring of a lion, The wisdom of an owl, The harmlessness of a dove, The industry of a beaver, The gentleness of a sheep, The versatility of a chameleon, The vision of an eagle, The hide of a rhinoceros, The perspective of a giraffe, The endurance of a camel, The bounce of a kangaroo, The stomach of a horse. What I noticed was, that all the qualifying character are those of animals. To be a good pastor he must be a beast!

The Good Shepherd

Hello Everyone,

Jesus is speaking and he makes it clear that He is the door, the only way into Heaven. He goes on to say that He is THE Good Shepherd. With that, one would have to think that there most have been or still is some Bad shepherds. There is only one Good Shepherd and that is Jesus Christ. No matter who you are, you are following a shepherd. Someone is leading you. Christians are to be followers of the Good Shepherd. But do not always do. All others are following another shepherd, one of the many bad shepherds. As simple as that is, and truthful, there are still many who still do not believe.

Grateful

Hello Everyone,

In every tragedy you can look at what you've lost and be hateful, or you can look at what you have left and be grateful. Joseph had ten brothers that hated him. They sold him as though he was nothing more than a dog. Joseph was a grand example of choosing to be grateful instead of hateful in the face of betrayal. Let us learn to be grateful in all things.

"Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Philippians 4:11-13

Who Cares?

Hello Everyone,

Thomas Edison noticed that his employees were in the habit of watching the lone factory clock. To the inventor who was an indefatigable worker, this was incomprehensible. He did not indicate his disapproval verbally. Instead he had dozens of clocks placed around the plant, no two keeping the same time. From then on clock watching led to so much confusion that nobody cared what time it was. We live in the days of religion, yet religion is confusing at best. Because of all the confusion, no one cares.

Hello Everyone,

Every now and then I get some feed back on these devotional I send out. Honestly most are good and some not so good. Which surprises me that there are not more feed back. And to be honest I do look forward to some feed back, because it helps remind me that these are not just being sent out into the blue skies of no return. I also love to receive new thoughts and devotionals from others as well. Feed back is good. Think about this, when one reads the Bible and prays that is what God gets -Feed Back.

Are you Ready?

Hello Everyone,

It is hot! And we are under a heat advisory for the next few days. I can't remember how many folks are complaining about the heat. Yet it is no where near what it would be like in hell. One would think that this would cause some to think. No! Why? Because folks are convinced that this will end soon and they will one day soon be complaining about the cold. True as that is, there is coming a day that this too will come to pass. Just as true, one day, judgement is coming, and no one knows the day nor hour. No one. The real truth will still be, "Are you ready?"

Drowning in Debt

Hello Everyone,

We are all aware that our nation has deep debt problems. And everyone on capital hill is working to get some sort of resolve. Well, I was watching the news this morning and there was this Lawyer/CPA proclaiming this statement, "Drowning in debt" We can help. Hmmm, I wonder if capital hill has considered calling this fellow. His advertisement was so sincere and I just know that he can help. If we were sincere, we could see the root of the matter. We would see that the love for money and kicking God out, has caused us great problems. Now do you still wonder why we have so many sorrows.

"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." 1 Timothy 6:10

Sinned

Hello Everyone,

Well Charley, my dog, has been doing his thing. The boys put up a badminton net in the back yard and Charley thought it would be a good idea to bring it down and he did. When I came outside, he came running with such pride of what he had done. When he heard my voice he knew then it was not such a good thing. Then my wife came out and he saw her reaction, he tucked his tail and tried to hide. This was good example of Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." But Charley did not know better, he does now.

Watch Your Step

Hello Everyone,

I have been watching these fellows build and deck on the house behind where I live. Now they are starting to put a roof over part of it. As they where working on the roof, these fellows were walking across the roof, and I notice that they were walking cautiously. Each step was a planned step with some checking to be sure that it was safe. It reminded me of how we as Christians are to be the same as we move about in this world we live in. Cautiously and watching where we step.

The Greatest Sin

Hello Everyone,

The world doesn't really know what sin is. They think sin is lying, stealing, murder, adultery, arson, rape, and they are sins. Do you know what the greatest sin is? The greatest sin is the rejection of Jesus Christ that will damn a soul to hell. You don't go to hell because you steal, lie, kill, or fornicate. I hear people say, “Sure, I lie every now and again, but God isn't going to send me to hell for that. When someone talks that way, they don't understand sin. Because all have sinned and you are condemned already. God loved you so much that He sent His only Begotten Son to pay your sin debt so that you will not go to hell. But you have to come to Jesus for the He is the only way.

“He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:18

Remembering

Hello Everyone,

Do you have difficulty remembering things? Someone said, “My memory is what I forget with.” Thankfully, we have the Holy Spirit, who has a ministry to our subconscious. He is there not only to teach you the Truth, but also to help you recall the Truth and apply the Truth in every situation. Over and over again, the Holy Spirit has done this in my life in the midst of preaching, witnessing, or counseling. You may not have a formal education, but you can still be a counselor to others in trouble. Why? Because God lives within you. When you walk in the Spirit, He will give you the words to speak in season to someone who is weary. But He cannot remind you unless you first learn it. So open your Bible and learn all you can.

“The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.” Isaiah 50:4

Pray for the Lost

Hello Everyone,

Do you know what the average prayer request is about? Physical healing. “Pray for my aunt who is a Christian and she is about to die.” “Pray for my saved uncle who is having heart surgery.” How many prayer meetings have you been to where people asked for prayer for their lost neighbor who is going to hell? More often than not we are more interested in keeping the saints out of heaven than we are in keeping the lost out of hell. It is not a tragedy to die and go to heaven. It is a tragedy to die and go to hell. Friend, it’s time we elevated our prayers outside of the physical realm of life into the spiritual realm. Take a look at your prayer list today—where are the lost who need to be saved? What are you doing to help them find their way?

Testing Faith

Hello Everyone,

You know the story of Joshua and how the wall of Jericho fell down after the Israelites marched around it once a day for six days, then seven times on the seventh day? Why not just walk around Jericho one time? I think it was because God was testing their faith. God was teaching them that waiting time is not wasted time. Isaiah 28:16 says “... he that believeth shall not make haste." God is never in a hurry, like we are. We get upset when we miss a section in a revolving door! God is also never late. He knows what He is doing. Do you know what most of our problem is? We've been around Jericho six times and we're ready to quit or have already quit
