No Contraband

Hello Everyone,

Today we are going to great length to make sure our airways are safe. And there is plenty of reason for why this is needed to be done. It reminds me of a story once told that went something like this:

A traveler came to a road block and had to pass through custom. The officers said to him, "Have you any contraband goods?" He replied, "I do not think I have." "That may be all true," said the officers; "but we cannot permit you to pass without examination. Permit us to search." "If you please," said the traveler. After the examination was over, the traveler addressed the officers, saying, Gentlemen, will you allow me to tell you what thoughts this examination has come to my mind? We are all travelers to an eternal kingdom, into which we cannot take any contraband goods. These things can be deceitfulness, anger, pride, lying, covetousness, and similar offenses; which is sin in the sight of God.

Everyone who passes the boundary of the grave is searched far more strictly than you have been searched at an airport. God is the Great Searcher of hearts: from him nothing is hid; and in that kingdom, as in this, everyone shall give an account." Let us be careful as we end this week and start a new week to not carry any contraband with us.

"Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you." Ephesians 4:31-32

What Burdens?

Hello Everyone,

An old legend says that at creation the birds felt cheated and hurt because they received wings. Wings appeared to be burdens which none of the other animals were asked to carry. All was changed, however, when the birds learned that wings were not burdens but blessings that borne them to the sky. Because they were given wings they could rise above the earth and see sights which no other animal could see.

We have al complained. We are in need of being careful of what may seem like a burden could very well be a really big blessing. Trust God in all things.

"And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good." Genesis 1:21

Christian Rug

Hello Everyone,

My wife has placed a small rug beside my side of the bed. I think she thinks I have dirty feet. Anyway, no matter where you place that little rug, when you walk on it, it creeps. That's right it creeps away from where you wanted it to stay. No matter what I do, it just will not stay in the place I want it too.

Now here is what I have found out. As long as I don't step or walk on the little rug, it will stay where it is suppose to. It is only when I walk on it that it gets mad at me and moves away. Dirty rotten little rug. I started calling it my little rebellious Christian rug. So often Christians are faithful to their post until someone or something walks on their spot. Then they want to move. Let us be found faithful and of good courage when our spots get walked on.

"O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer. Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD." Psalms 31;23,24

Little Lights

Hello Everyone,

I came into my office the other night and noticed all these little lights on. There was three green ones, two red ones, one yellow one and one blue one. I had myself a real light show and did not know it. Each light represents that something is working. Those little lights were shining brighter because of all the darkness that was in my office that night. That just goes to show you that even a little light can shin bright when it is surrounded by nothing but darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not. Little light just Keep on shining. Amen

Real Terrorists

Hello Everyone,

No one would have known it, really to think that there may be Terrorists Groups in the Churches. The new facts that I just got, well you just can't refute it.

Latest news reports are that five terrorist cell groups have been operating in many of our churches.
They have been identified as: Bin Sleepin, Bin Arguin, Bin Fightin, Bin Complainin, and Bin Missin.
Their leader, Lucifer Bin Workin, trained these groups to destroy the Body of Christ.
The plan is to come into the church disguised as Christians and to work within the church to discourage, disrupt, and destroy..
However, there have been reports of a sixth group. A tiny cell known by the name Bin Prayin is actually the only effective counter terrorism force in the church. Unlike other terrorist cells, the Bin Prayin team does not blend in with whoever and whatever comes along. Bin Prayin does whatever is needed to uplift and encourage the Body of Christ.
We have noticed that the Bin Prayin cell group has different characteristics than the others. They have Bin Watchin, Bin Waitin, Bin Fastin, and Bin Longin for their Master, Jesus Christ to return.
NO CHURCH IS EXEMPT!
(However, you can spot them if you bin lookin and bin goin.)

"He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus." Revelation 22:20

It just stinks

Hello Everyone,

The story was told of a mother came home one afternoon from the grocery store and walked into her home and everything looked pretty much the same, though it was a little bit quieter than usual. She looked into the middle of the living room and 5 of her darlings were sitting around in a circle, exceedingly quiet, doing something, with something in the middle of a circle. So she put down the sacks of groceries and walked over closely and looked and saw that they were playing with 5 of the cutest skunks you can imagine. She was instantly terrified and she said, "Run children, run! Each child grabbed a skunk and ran wildly in 5 different directions. The mother began to panic and screamed louder, which only scared the children more and each one ran holding those little skunks tightly. Skunks don't like to be held tight! That just stinks.

Same applies when God's folks get to messing around with sin. It just stinks.

"In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise."

Being Fruitful

Hello Everyone,

My neighbor next door works constantly in her yard. She loves to spend time in her garden and flowers. During the fall and early spring she is usually busy pruning. While she prunes, there are two things that are observed. First, all dead wood must be removed; and second, the live wood must be cut back. Dead wood harbors insects and disease and may cause the plant to rot, become unproductive and unsightly. Live wood must be trimmed back in order to prevent such heavy growth that the life of the vine goes into the wood rather than into fruit.

A rose garden in the early spring look like a collection of barren stumps. But in the summer and fall they are filled with beautiful roses. Often, God cuts dead wood out from among His saints, and cuts back the living wood so far that His method may seem cruel. Nevertheless, from those who have suffered the most there often comes the greatest fruitfulness.

Jesus tell us of this in John 15:1,2,

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit."

What are you thinking?

Hello Everyone,

We have to admit that what ever our mind and heart dwell upon the most will show up in our lives and character. Amen! For example: Three people were visiting and viewing the Grand Canyon--an artist, a pastor, and a cowboy. As they stood on the edge of that massive canyon, each one responded in their own way. The artist said, "Ah, what a beautiful scene to paint!" The minister cried, "What a wonderful example of the handiwork of God!" The cowboy moaned, "What a terrible place to lose a cow!" What does your mind and heart dwell upon the most?

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you." Philippians 4:8,9

Doing Right Always

Hello Everyone,

I have heard from some that people are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered. Love them anyway. That is hard to do and I am sure that you will agree. Why, because if you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives. Do good anyway. If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies. Succeed anyway. Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable. Be honest and frank anyway. The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. The biggest people with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest people with the smallest minds. Think big anyway. People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs. Fight for some underdogs anyway. What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight. Build anyway. Bottom line - do good all that you can while you can.

"They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge."

Bought by God

Hello Everyone,

One of the old favorites is the story of the father and son who worked for months to build a toy sailboat. Every night when he came home from work the man and his boy would disappear into the garage for hours. It was a labor of love--love for each other and for the thing they were creating. The wooden hull was painted bright red and it was trimmed with gleaming white sails. When it was finished, they traveled to a nearby lake for the boat's trial run. Before launching it the father tied a string to its stern to keep it from sailing too far. The boat performed beautifully, but before long a motorboat crossing the lake cut the string, and the sailboat drifted out of sight on the large lake. Attempts to find it were fruitless, and both father and son wept over its loss.

A few weeks later as the boy was walking home from school he passed his favorite toy store and was amazed to see a toy sailboat in the window--his sailboat! He ran inside to claim the boat, telling the proprietor about his experience on the lake. The store owner explained that he had found the boat while on a fishing trip. "You may be its maker," he said, "but as a finder I am its legal owner. You may have it back--for fifty dollars." The boy was stunned at how much it would cost him to regain his boat, but since it was so precious to him he quickly set about earning the money to buy it back. Months later he joyfully walked into the toy store and handed the owner fifty dollars in exchange for his sailboat. It was the happiest day of his life. As he left the store he held the boat up to the sunlight. Its colors gleamed as though newly painted. "I made you, but I lost you," he said. "Now I've bought you back. That makes you twice mine, and twice mine is mine forever."

"For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s." 1 Corinthians 6:20

Counterfeits are on Every Corner

Hello Everyone,

It has been brought to my attention that the neighborhood bar is possibly the best counterfeit there is to the fellowship Christ wants to give his church. The bar is an imitation dispensing liquor instead of grace, escape rather than reality, but it is permissive, it is accepting and it is an inclusive fellowship. It is unshockable. You can tell people secrets and they usually don't tell others or even want to. Now listen carefully the bar flourishes not because most people are alcoholics, but because God has put into the human heart, the desire to know and be known, to love and be loved. That is the real truth why so many people seek a counterfeit at the price of a few beers. The devil is always behind the counterfeit that he uses to corrupted the truth. Truth comes from God and His Holy Word.

"Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever."

Change your Mindset

Hello Everyone,

Sunday Night I was sharing with the folks about we have to have a change in our mind set in witnessing and inviting folks to Jesus. I read not too long ago about a high school in Virginia offered a course called "Home Economics for Boys." Needless to say, no one signed up. So the following year it was renamed "Bachelor Living." and guessed what? 120 boys promptly signed up. The curriculum never changed. It still offered traditional instruction in cooking, sewing, laundry, and money management. But it needed the right image before the students would give the class a second look.

As we present Christ to the world, let's not forget, let us have the mind set that the message must never change, but the methods may vary.

"Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man." Colossians 4:5,6

Coming Together

Hello Everyone,

My son has come home after living in Washington for a year. On his way home he drove by the Sequoia trees of California. He could not believe how tall and big these trees were, some as much as 300 feet above the ground. A fellow there told them that these giants have unusually shallow root systems. Seldom will you see a redwood standing alone, because high winds would quickly uproot it. That's why they grow in clusters. Their intertwining roots provide support for one another against the storms.

Amen now that is something that we as Christians can learn. Everyone has some sort of suffering, and no one can suffer for us. But just like those giant Sequoia trees, we can be supported in those difficult times by the prayers and understanding of loved ones and friends. It's when we are too proud to admit our needs to others that we are in the greatest danger.

"Therefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do." 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Staying Clean

Hello Everyone,

I read that in 1842 the first bathtub was denounced as a "luxurious and democratic vanity". Boston made it unlawful to bathe, except on doctor's prescription. In 1843 Philadelphia made bathing illegal between November 1 and March 15.

Now listen, it is a tragedy but a large number of Christians have adopted a similar schedule of spiritual cleansing. We would rather put up with the stench of our unconfessed sins than come clean before God!

"Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God." 2 Corinthians 7:1

Missing Out

Hello Everyone,

In Washington, DC Metro Station on a cold January morning in 2007. The man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time approx. 2 thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After 3 minutes a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule. 4 minutes later: The violinist received his first dollar: a woman threw the money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk. 6 minutes: A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again. 10 minutes: A 3-year old boy stopped but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. Every parent, without exception, forced their children to move on quickly. 45 minutes: The musician played continuously. Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32. 1 hour: He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition. No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before Joshua Bell sold out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.
This is a true story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people's priorities. The questions raised:
*In a common place environment at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty?
*Do we stop to appreciate it?
*Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?
One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this: If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made. How many other things are we missing?

"Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God."

Foolish Sheep

Hello Everyone,

D.L. Moody used to share the following story: in the Highlands of Scotland, a sheep would often wander off into the rocks and get into places that they couldn't get out of. The grass on these mountains is very sweet and the sheep like it, and they will jump down ten or twelve feet, and then they can't jump back again and the shepherd hears them bleating in distress. They may be there for days, until they have eaten all the grass. The shepherd will wait until they are so faint that they cannot stand, and then they will put a rope around him, and he will go over and pull that sheep up out of the jaws of death.

"Why don't they go down there when the sheep first gets there? I asked. "Ah!" he said, "they are so very foolish they would dash right over the edge and be killed if they did." Moody concludes his story by saying: "And this is the way with men; they won't go back to God till they have no friends and have lost everything."

"I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments." Psalms 119:176

Jesus Same Everyday

Hello Everyone,

A musician went to visit his aged music teacher. While there, the teacher struck a tuning fork and said, "That is A." Just then, singing could be heard from the floor above. "She sings sharp" said the old teacher. He struck the tuning fork again. "But this is A. Always has been, always will be; 440 vibrations per second. It will be the same 5,000 years from now."

At times it feels like everything around us is constantly changing; sometimes for the better and sometimes for worse. Babies are born, loved ones die, kids go off to college, friends drift in and out of our lives, jobs change, looks change, health changes. Whenever we begin to feel uncertain about our lives, all we have to do is strike the tuning fork of our faith and remember that God always has been, is now and always will be the same--an immovable Rock upon which we can rely. And if we cling to that Rock, though the winds of change may blow, our foundation will remain steady and strong.

Pulling Together

Hello Everyone,

1957 a church in Florida had a ground breaking service. Instead of the usual shovels for special people to use in digging, they brought an old one horse plow. Recalling the words of Jesus, "Take my yoke upon you," they borrowed an old yoke and two stalwart laymen were hitched up. But the two were unable to pull the plow. Then the entire Building Committee of the congregation were put on the rope, but even then the plow did not move. Other church officers were added, and the Sunday school officers and teachers, but still the plow did not move. Finally every member of the congregation who was present each took a hold of the rope. With every member pulling together, the plow moved, the ground was broken.

Too many churches expect the preacher or a few officials to do the work and pull the entire load to keep the church going. If we want to see progress we must all work together.

"From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love." Ephesians 4:16

You are the Light

Hello Everyone,

A fellow told this story of a certain mountain village in Europe several centuries ago, a nobleman wondered what legacy he should leave to his townspeople. At last he decided to build them a church. No one saw the complete plans for the church until it was finished. When the people gathered, they marveled at its beauty and completeness. Then someone asked, "But where are the lamps? How will it be lighted?" The nobleman pointed to some brackets in the walls. Then he gave to each family a lamp which they were to bring with them each time they came to worship.

"Each time you are here the area where you are seated will be lighted," the nobleman said. "Each time you are not here, that area will be dark. This is to remind you that whenever you fail to come to church, some part of God's house will be dark."
